    Website: www.dlegal.co.za

Plain-English summary: some cookies are needed for the site, your sign-in and your saved application progress to work. The rest are analytics and advertising measurement, and you can switch those off in your browser at any time.

    1.What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember your settings, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is being used. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels and tags, and this policy covers all of them.

    2.Cookies we use

    Strictly necessary

Always on. The site cannot work without these and they do not track you across other websites.

    • Session and security cookies that protect forms against abuse.
    • Authentication tokens that keep you signed in to a client or staff dashboard.
    • Local storage that saves your progress in an application or assessment so you do not lose your answers. Saved progress expires after 24 hours.

    Preferences

Remember choices you have made so the site behaves the way you left it.

    • Light or dark theme selection.
    • Dismissed notices and banners.

    Analytics

Help us see which pages and tools are useful, and where people get stuck. Aggregated, not used to identify you.

    • Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager, typically stored for up to 24 months.

    Advertising and conversion measurement

We advertise on Google. These tags tell us which advertising leads to enquiries so we do not waste spend, and they may be used to show you our ads again.

    • Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags, typically stored for up to 90 days for conversion measurement.

3.Third parties that may set cookies

These providers act under their own privacy terms for the data they collect. We do not sell your information to them.

    • Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Google Ads).
    • Our hosting and application platform, for security and session handling.
    • Payment providers, on their own checkout pages only.
    • Embedded content such as maps or video, where present on a page.

    4.Your choices

Non-essential cookies are only used where you have accepted them. You can change your mind at any time using your browser controls or by emailing support@dlegal.co.za.

    • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break forms, sign-in and saved progress.
    • Opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.
    • Adjust personalised advertising in your Google Ads settings.
    • Use your browser's private or incognito mode to avoid persistent cookies.

    5.Do Not Track

Browsers send Do Not Track signals in different ways and there is no agreed standard for responding to them. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track headers, so please use the controls above instead.

    6.How this fits with POPIA

Where a cookie or tag collects information that can identify you, we handle it as personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.

    7.Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add or remove a tool that sets cookies. The version on this page, with its effective date, is the current one.
